Booster box formats explained

Simplified Chinese Pokémon TCG comes in more pack and case formats than English sets. The number of cards in one pack decides the format: 5 cards = Slim, 20 cards = Jumbo, anything else is a Special Format. XL Case and Twin Case describe the case, not the pack.

FormatChineseWhat decides it
Slim Booster Box瘦盒5 cards per pack
Jumbo Booster Box肥盒20 cards per pack
Special Format特殊规格Not 5 or 20 cards per pack

Slim Booster Box (瘦盒)

5 cards per pack

  • The standard small pack. Each Simplified Chinese booster pack holds 5 cards, usually with 1 holo.
  • A slim box holds 15–30 packs depending on the set; the product name always says how many.
  • Most sets come in both a slim and a fat version.

Jumbo Booster Box (肥盒)

20 cards per pack

  • The standard big pack (sometimes called a “jumbo pack” by other sellers). Each pack holds 20 cards, usually with 6 holos (7 for Collection 151).
  • A fat box holds 6 packs.
  • Same set, same cards as the slim version, in fewer, bigger packs.

Special Format (特殊规格)

Not 5 or 20 cards per pack

  • Anything that is not the standard 5-card or 20-card pack. Examples:
  • Gem Packs (宝石包): 4 cards per pack, all holo.
  • 30th Celebration: 6 cards per pack, all holo.
  • Enhancement packs (强化包, the “.5” sets): 6 cards per pack with 2 holos.
  • Terastal Gathering (CSV9.5C): 10 cards per pack.
  • Older Sword & Shield and Sun & Moon big packs: 25 cards per pack.

XL Case

About the case, not the pack

  • A double-size case: it holds twice as many boxes as the standard case of the same product (for example 40 boxes instead of 20).
  • The packs inside are exactly the same as in the standard case; only the case size changes.

Twin Case (对箱)

Two versions sold together

  • Some sets are released in two versions (for example Vivid Portrayals 黎 Obsidian and 靛 Indigo). Suppliers often only sell them together as a twin case (对箱).
  • A twin case listing contains both versions; the description lists what is in each.
  • Three-version sets (e.g. Storming Emergence 赫 / 苍 / 泽) are sold as a Mixed Case.

Cards per pack vs units per case

  • Cards per pack: how many cards are in one booster pack. It is shown on every booster product and decides Slim / Jumbo / Special Format.
  • Units per case: how many boxes or gift sets come in one wholesale case. All prices on Crazy TCG are per case.
